Over the prior five weeks I’ve shared some insights as to how business owners can leverage the internet to generate more leads, close more sales and grow their cash flow and businesses. I summarize below the key points of the series. Following this list is the most important point of all as it relates to growing your cash flow and making your business successful.
1. Embrace professional web design and build sites with the purpose that they will generate leads for your business. Don’t make the mistake of building sites that look like another pretty online brochure.
2. Develop the necessary search engine optimization and marketing disciplines to increase web traffic to your site. This boils down to content, links, and the architecture of your site.
3. As you get results with top search engine placement, impact conversions and build your list. Make it easy for visitors to contact you. Integrate forms into your site and offer educational content of value that will encourage visitors to give you their email address so you have permission to follow up.
4. Leverage the power of a CRM system like Infusionsoft. You don’t need to spend a bunch of money on custom CRM. Affordable technology like Infusionsoft enables your visitor’s contact information to automatically go into your database. It also integrates your email and database marketing so you can communicate with personalized and relevant education while following up on leads and prospects.
5. Invest the time to build your brand and traffic to your site by being active with social network marketing. We suggest that you pick at least one and not more than three or four social networks to really focus on so you can be visible, relevant and consistent.
Now that I’ve given you a quick recap of the series thus far, let me share with you what I feel is the most important point of all. Developing an effective internet marketing strategy and plan can make a huge impact on your cash flow and the growth of your business over time. But it’s just one aspect of what it takes to grow and sustain a successful business or practice.
Successful internet marketing by itself won’t make your business successful. Beyond the luck factor which is very real, success in business has to do with performing many different aspects of your business consistently well. Internet and traditional marketing may help you generate more leads. Being and hiring great sales talent and leveraging technology can help you close more sales. And building a great plan executed by a wonderfully talented team of people can make an impact on client service and retention. But, in the end, the real breakthrough companies do many things very well on a consistent basis.
Planning, financial capital, markets, leadership, human capital, sales, marketing, technology, finance and the experience of your customers related to your products and services all impact our success as entrepreneurs. I like to refer to this as the many “moving parts” that impact success or failure in business. Being successful takes more than great marketing. It takes the guts to work on the many moving parts while building a team of people who can share your vision, mission and values to be successful and execute the plan.
In closing, I hope this series has shed some light on what it takes to be more successful with regard to your internet marketing. At WealthNet Partners, helping our clients discover the art of business development goes far beyond marketing. And we encourage you to share your questions and comments here as they relate to any aspect of starting, funding and growing successful businesses.
