Seven Solid Questions for Building an Email Campaign
The following are some of the questions we ask new clients who hire us to help them close more sales via database marketing.
- What is your top line revenue goal and/or your net profit goal?
- What product or service do you feel will most help you reach that goal?
- Does your list have enough potential buyers to meet your goal? (If not, maybe we should be working on a list building offering instead of a follow up sequence)
- If your list is segmented, what segment is most likely to buy this service?
- If your list is not properly segmented, would it be valuable to create a campaign to segment it?
- What action can a person take that will get them closest to buying (i.e. do they need to go to an ecommerce page, do they need to send an email to a sales rep, do they need to come by your location)?
- What’s in it for the customer? Why do people who buy do so? Why do people who don’t buy choose not to?
We find that these questions start a good conversation that provides a starting point for us to really understand how a client’s business works and how we can best leverage their list and their expertise to jump start business. Hopefully you can achieve similar results by asking yourself these questions.
