Jun 29, 2009 Tieing Social Media and Online Networking to Your Blog

Hopefully your blog is integrated to your website. When our professional web design team plans a site, we have recommended to our clients that they integrate their blog so they build organic traffic to their site. In the context of tieing social media and online networking to your website, I shared this with the WealthNet Council for Entrepreneurs at our LinkedIn profile.

Twitter, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Squidoo, Ning, Facebook, MySpace, etc. These are the social networks that come to mind most frequently. The key is to tie your participation among several and build your network of contacts. Look at it this way, getting on line and participating in online social networks and forums is easier than going to Chamber meetings and mixers.

Back to Twitter since this is the topic for this discussion. If you don’t have a Twitter profile, you should consider building at least one. I resisted Twitter until a few weeks ago because my main concern was keeping up with it. And now I know why I was concerned in the first place. It adds another element to social media that requires us to actually do something OF VALUE and RELEVANCE to our market or ideal customers. Like any other social media, if you don’t use it you lose it. For example, if you don’t complete a profile on LinkedIn and people visit it and see only two people in your network and no group participation, they pretty much assume you’re not big into social media and building your network.

So how are we using Twitter? We tweet items of interest and encourage people who care about the Tweet to visit a relevant site, mostly our blog. As you will see if you visit the wealthnetpartners.com/blog today, this comment is tied to our blog. Which is tied to a Tweet. Check it out. And try it yourself. Post a comment here. Add a comment on our blog. Tweet something once you have your profile up and running.

Bottom line is this. We want more traffic to our website. We want more people in our network. We want interaction. We want to teach and add value to our network. We want to focus on our singleness of purpose. Help others grow their businesses!

Try it!
