We build websites, blogs, sales funnels, membership sites, and online communities.  We are part website design company and part marketing consulting business.  We are involved a lot with our clients helping them with Internet marketing.

What I’ve noticed lately is how relatively few business owners and marketers are actively blogging.  I say this because my team and I interact with a lot of business owners every week.  So we get to see a lot of websites.  Which is what leads me back to my point about blogs.  Most people don’t have one.

When I say active, I define active blogging as and owning a blog and regularly creating new content with at least one decent new post per week.  Ideally you’re able to make it 3 or more.

So while just about everyone in business has a website, few have a decent blog.  Why?  People don’t get it?  Not enough time? Aren’t sure what to write about? Writers block? As I sit to write to you today my main thought is that if you are truly passionate about what you do and you’re good at it, why not write about it?

If you own a business or you’re a professional promoting the brand of “You” and you’re not blogging, you’re missing out on a significant marketing opportunity.  Blogging is one of the most powerful marketing disciplines any small business owner can make.  The key word here is discipline because it requires a commitment to be consistent and relevant to your audience.  Hopefully what you’re writing about is of genuine interest to your audience.

Here are several tips when it comes to your blog.

1. Blogging is an exceptional way to strengthen your positioning.  Every time you write a blog post of interest you’re extending your reach and voice.  Whether it’s sharing some insightful news or statistics, or maybe it’s an experience or story you’re sharing, you are putting yourself into the public eye.

2. Creating new blog content is a great way to get found online and attract prospective customers to your business.  In short, blogging can be great for business.  Don’t expect results over night.  It takes time to build traffic to your site.  It takes experience and time invested in creating content that is good for the reader and good for the search engines.  It’s one thing for someone to find your site by accident.  Getting found a lot requires great search engine optimization efforts.  Keyword rich content.  Lots and lots of inbound links of the highest possible quality.  And time.

3. You need to develop a system.  As an active blogger for over 5 years now it’s important for most writers and bloggers to develop a system.  Having a system that works for you is essential because it’s makes blogging time a scheduled activity that you know you need to do.  You choose to make it so because you know it’s important for your business.

4. Think, write, speak out and grow rich.  Every time you create new blog content you are adding thoughts, news, updates, or some information that the search engines will index and people will find one day.  If you’re good at what you do your search engine optimized blogs will stream right to the top of a Google search result.  And as more people find you and choose to read what you write, you’re able to reach people in a way that comes straight from your heart.

4. Keep at it.  Even if you’re good at blogging and find a way to monetize your efforts via new business you attract or you decide to selling affiliate and information products, it’s going to take time to build traffic.  So just start out with a schedule you can keep each week.

5. Bonding happens.  Blogging allows you to communicate with an audience of people who share your common interests.  As you interact with your audience through blog comments, social media and eventually directly, you build relationships.  Through your blogging you allow people to get to know your positions and to know a bit about you.  You can learn about other people as they add comments to your blog and you interact where they post and network.

So get your blogging habit going now if you don’t already make it a habit.  Blogging is good for business.  It’s good for people who want to share useful information and contribute to the online community in your own way.

Now here’s some news about SEOPressor.com.

This should be a post unto it itself.  But since I’ve got it laid out here now, I will just include my comments on this fantastic piece of software for blogging.

One of the best part of our jobs is test driving new software that helps us with online lead generation, new traffic, higher conversions and growing email lists.

I have to admit a near obsession I have had lately with something new to me, the blog and marketing software, SEOPressor. SEOPressor is a WordPress blog plugin that changed the way I blog and create new education materials, websites, landing pages, and all the other content we develop.  For the first 72 hours after downloading SEOPressor I was hard at work updating as many pages on our website and blog as I could.  Dozens and dozens of pages from low end ratings of 22% were transformed into 87% and higher.  Learning to use the SEOPressor software is an amazing competitive advantage when it comes to getting better search results on new WordPress blog posts and other content.

I have been hard at work at the blog lately.  If you want to take your blog to a whole new level check out SEOPressor.

Tell us about your blogging success.  What has your experience been with blogging?  How long have you been at it?  What’s working well and what’s not working so well?  Thanks for sharing.

  1. Thanks for the tips! Blogging is a discipline that will have long-term pay off. One way to simplify the blogging process is to create video blog post. Then submit the video to YouTube and embed the video onto your blog. It’s like getting 3 for the price of 1… video marketing, a backlink from YouTube and blogging. You could write a short lead in or summary of the video. Or, simply have the video transcribed and post it on the blog under the video for that extra SEO punch.

Looking forward to checking out SEOPresser!
